Brooklyn Earick Rules Out Spurs Buyout Proposal Post-Initial Contact
The former chairman directed Spurs' move to the club's new home in 2019.
Innovative business leader Brooklyn Earick has ruled out submitting an official acquisition offer for Tottenham.
Spurs had before “unequivocally rejected” an preliminary inquiry from a investment group headed by the American last month and maintained the team was not for sale.
Yet UK takeover and merger rules required that, having had an initial approach declined, the group needed to make an offer by the October deadline or announce they would not proceed.
Official word of the decision was provided in a statement issued by the club to the London Stock Exchange, stating the club is “ceased to be in an acquisition window.”
Earick published an picture of the statement on social media, stating: “It's been a pleasure engaging with the club and the owners' delegates over the past few weeks.
“I have deep admiration for the team, its executives, and its followers, and desire only the best.”
Tottenham's directors thanked the consortium for its “cooperative stance” in discussions and for “acknowledging the definitive view” of the proprietors that the organization is off the market.
Brooklyn Earick is a former DJ who also served in aerospace studies for Nasa before creating his technology firm, which specializes in innovation, entertainment, sports and recreation.
The informal offer was the third expression of interest rejected by the club's board since the sudden departure of long-serving chairman the former chairman in September.
Earlier in September, the club rejected proposals from ex-Newcastle investor Staveley's PCP International Finance Limited and a consortium led by Roger Kennedy and the co-investor through Firehawk Holdings.
The former chairman and his relatives own about 30% of the parent company – which has an almost 87% stake in Tottenham.
He was the English top flight's longest-serving chairman and is estimated to have received over £50 million during his long tenure in the capacity.
However he was also the subject of frequent demonstrations by the club's followers, notably last term as home competition outcomes turned out unsatisfactory.
Tottenham secured their first trophy in nearly two decades when they overcame the Red Devils in last season's continental decider.
